On this day, students moved through the August 30th Daily Boards. If you missed out, you do need to turn in the essay practice packet with a Late or Make-Up Cover Sheet upon your return. I am checking writing workouts soon, as well. Remember that if you miss one of those, you are accountable for making it up on your own time!

Today, students started the class period with a Writing Workout from Mrs. Wilmhoff -- try to free-write and include 3-5 words from the Word Wall. Next, students had the class period to work with the laptops on Antigone Major Works Data Sheets in Groups. If you missed class today, it is your responsibility to get in touch with your group members about how you will complete the Major Works Data Sheet for Antigone and submit it to Turnitin by 11:59 pm on Tuesday, September 3rd. Please remember that we do have a 3-day weekend coming up and schedule accordingly.
On this day, students followed the August 29th Daily Boards. If you missed class, you need to catch up with another student (or me: [email protected]) to ensure you understand how a Fishbowl Discussion works. I told students that they would need to have ALL of Antigone read by Thursday, August 30th.
Check the August 28th Daily Boards for details on today's class. If you missed class today, or even if you didn't, you should look at the notes I linked to. We didn't have time for this in class, but the notes linked to the slideshow connect the concept of Levels of Questioning with Cinderella!
Check the August 27th Daily Boards. Students who missed class should complete the multiple choice assignment and check answers with a peer. I didn't take this for a grade, but practice is the way you get better on this, people. Remember, this AP style is what you can expect to see on the exam over poetry at the end of the trimester. Also, check out the Word Wall -- we added a bunch after our reading/discussion today!
Today, Mr. Eubank will lead students through the August 24th Daily Boards. If you weren't here, you need to pick up a copy of Antigone upon your return and read it by Tuesday, August 28th, making appropriate notes as you read.

Students who missed today's class are required to complete the Olds Essay Prompt with the AP Essay Planning Guide (both included in the slideshow) and attach a Late or Make-Up Cover Sheet.

Writing Workout: Today, according to the Writing Workout Sign-Up Sheet, Deanna wrote a prompt about favorite teachers. Of course, as always, if you feel like writing something else, you're free to do it! Students wrote on this topic for approximately 7 minutes. Please get in touch with me electronically if you still need to sign up to lead Writing Workout. Use (Twitter, edmodo, or [email protected]) to do this. If getting in touch with me electronically is not the best option for you, please feel free to come by on any Monday after school. Every student is responsible for leading Writing Workout! Don't get skipped!
Class Work: Students spent class time working in Groups for the Major Works Data Sheet on Oedipus. Homework: In addition to your Oedipus Major Works Data Sheet deadline on Turnitin (Wednesday, August 22nd by 11:59 pm), I passed out the AP Independent Reading Assignment Today. Read it carefully. The first deadline is September 12th. If you missed today's class, you are responsible for your writing workout, the Major Works Data Sheet, and for the AP Independent Reading Assignment.
