For a run-down on today's class, check the August 31st Daily Boards. If you missed class today, you unfortunately cannot make up the gallery walk, but you are accountable for turning in everything that students handed in during class -- even Step 10!

Today, students used laptops in class to complete Steps 7-8 of SpringBoard Unit 1, Embedded Assessment 1. Students used the Unit 1, Embedded Assessment 1 Calendar for guidance. If you missed out today, ensure that you have Steps 1-8 completed for tomorrow's gallery walk. If any students submit rough or final drafts late to Turnitin, please send me a message through email ([email protected]), Edmodo, or Twitter so that I give you credit for the assignment. If you turn it in but do not send me a message, it is likely that you will not get credit! (I wish Turnitin would send me a message when you submit late work, but it doesn't!)
Class was mostly a work day today. Students worked through the slides on the August 29th Daily Boards. If you missed class today, you are accountable for all assignments which students completed in class, as well as the homework. Students will present artistic representations with explanatory texts and completed calendars on Friday, August 31st.
All you need to know about today's class is available on the August 28th Daily Boards.
Today, students followed the August 27th Daily Boards. If you missed class today, you are accountable for all of the work/homework on the slides, and you must also submit 1.8 upon your return attached to a Late or Make-up Cover Sheet.
Mr. Eubank will lead students through the following tasks today: August 24th Daily Boards. If you miss this day, you are accountable for all of 1.9, including the map required/explained on the Daily Boards. You will use your products from 1.9 next week on our SpringBoard Unit 1 Embedded Assessment 1.
Homework: Advanced English II Independent Reading Assignment
Check the August 23rd Daily Boards for a rundown of today's class. Students who were absent are accountable for all assignments. I will check 1.8 for a grade!
Most information you might need about today's class is available on the Wednesday, August 22nd Daily Boards. If you missed class, you are accountable for SpringBoard 1.7. Unfortunately, unless you can convince a classmate to help you out, you may have to complete it on your own. Please turn in both 1.3 and 1.6 separately upon your return to class with a Late or Make-Up Cover Sheet.
Students started class with a great discussion on Activity 1.3. If you weren't here, you must have definitions in the margin on SpringBoard page 10 for all 6 terms on the bottom of the page. This means that you have a web for the word culture, your own definition, and then 6 definitions in the margin of the page.
Today, students also selected independent reading books. While you will get specifics on our independent reading assignment tomorrow, right now, the keys of the assignment rely on how the selections align with our unit on "Voices of Modern Culture." For this reason, all of the options have a first person narrator and a strong/specific cultural influence. Many students asked if they could purchase books or use books which you already own. If you would like to do so, please ask me electronically (Twitter, edmodo, or [email protected]). If you weren't here, please check with Mrs. Marshall ([email protected]), our librarian, to select a text. Tell her you are in Mrs. Henson's first period class, and she will help you select a text that matches our unit. There are some great options left! Final Note: We will talk more about this tomorrow, but obviously, the assignment is designed to be used on a text which you have not already read for a school assignment! Check the August 20th Daily Boards to see what students did on this day. If you were not here, know that you will be accountable for the skills, knowledge, and resources on our Unpacked Unit 1, Embedded Assessment 1.
